Tuition classes & Workshops |
|
My tuition classes were established in 1991 in the Tamworth (Staffordshire) area. Classes have always been highly popular, giving people of all ages and abilities the chance to learn from scratch or improve their painting & drawing. In addition to running my own "school", I conducted day workshops and demonstrations for many years for organisations such as Hobby Craft, Outreach, and Art Societies in the Staffordshire area. How the classes workAttendees supply their own equipment (advice is always available for anybody unsure of what to bring). My emphasis is on the individual. Basically, people come to learn what they want to learn. This doesn't mean there is no structure to my teaching, but people know what they want to achieve and a lot of classes / college courses do not satisfy the needs and desires of the individual. I am there primarily to help someone realise their potential, (which is always far greater than anyone is willing to believe). I have yet to meet someone who, (with the right attitude) couldn't produce something worthwhile. Self doubt is usually the greatest barrier between a person and their goal and most people will say the hardest thing they ever did was walk through the door! Those who have dared have achieved so much and gained good friends and quality "Me time" into the bargain! Sometimes we might work a common project which targets a certain media or subject, but nobody is forced to take part in these activities and can continue to work on their own project while still being part of the group. With this more liberal approach people learn quicker and retain what they have learned. Its about taking time and accepting that mistakes are not failures but the greatest lessons.
